The French Vigipirate Security Plan

France is currently under the “Vigipirate plan: Attack Alert level”. As such, a number of measures must be taken to ensure everyone’s safety on campus. The “Attack Alert” level includes the following requirements:

  • All individuals (students and staff) must identify themselves by means of their ECAM card
  • All external visitors must provide identification upon arrival at the reception desk
  • All vehicles must be identified and traffic restricted
  • All events on campus must be declared in advance, with all practical details provided:
    • date
    • times
    • location or itinerary
    • estimated number of participants
    • exact nature of the event and any risks
  • Security service for certain events

Fire safety

In the event of a fire, the procedure is as follows:

  • Trigger the alarm using the nearest fire alarm.
  • If possible, use the nearest fire extinguisher
  • Urgently notify a nearby ECAM staff member, or if needed, the school’s reception desk
  • In the event of a serious emergency, anyone may call 18 immediately and inform a staff member as soon as possible
  • If the alarm goes off, evacuate the building as quickly as possible, without shouting.
  • Do not use elevators in the event of a fire
  • Ensure that gathering crowds do not obstruct emergency vehicle access through the central roadway and main car park
  • Group leaders have been appointed to oversee the evacuation process and to check that no one remains inside the buildings. Each teacher present during the evacuation must also perform this role for their class.

NOTE: the Jean Bouisset Student Residence is not concerned by this notice, as the building has a different status.
